IEC-BC to offer employer workshops: Hiring and On-Boarding Immigrant Talent
IEC-BC has partnered with the Burnaby Board of Trade (BBOT), Surrey Board of Trade (SBOT) and the BC Human Resources Management Association (BC HRMA) to deliver a highly-practical series of employer-focused workshops on the integration of skilled immigrants in the workplace.
Recognizing that many employers understand the business case for hiring skilled immigrants and are now asking for tools and resources to address real-world hiring challenges, the quarterly workshops will provide employers with a roadmap for hiring and retaining the talent they need. Working closely with BC HRMA to design the courseware, the goal is to connect employers with effective tools and supports while providing them with guidance on how best to integrate and on-board skilled immigrants into their workforces.
IEC-BC will be piloting these workshops with the local business community and with the professional association for HR professionals, during the summer of 2012.
The workshops will be free for employers and will be of particular interest to small and medium sized businesses that do not have the HR resources to assist with the attracting, hiring and on-boarding of immigrant talent. More information will be posted on the IEC-BC website http://www.tapintotalent.ca, following the successful delivery of the pilot programs in June.
